Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel (2009)

Length: 88 minutes

Rating: PG for some mild rude humor

Director: Betty Thomas

Who is it For: People with a devotion to the Chipmunks

Who is it Not For: Many people

What I liked: The singing of the Chipmunks and the Chipettes

What I didn't like: Bad lines and acting

Plot: The ultimate singing showdown between the famous chipmunks and the up and coming chipettes, intertwined with the difficulties of high school life.

As you can already tell I'm not too enthused by this movie. I was let down by this movie I went into it excited for a good fun movie, unfortunately I was distracted by the bad writing and the poor acting. I think Zachary Levi is an decent actor but this definitely is not his best work. The football players were pretty bad too. I believe that bad acting isn't all the actors fault though, the director is the person in charge of accepting and allowing actors performances in their film.

When I explain to someone that the best part of this movie was a chipmunk (Theodore) getting dutch ovened, then there isn't much more to discuss. Dutch oven is essentially creating a contained are of flatulence, typically created by passing gas and then pulling a blanket over the unsuspecting persons head and trapping them inside with the fumes.

In the end, unfortunately the voice talents of Jesse McCartney, Amy Poehler, Anna Faris and Christina Applegate couldn't bring me about to recommend this movie. Although, they helped to keep me from not recommending it.

I rate this movie a:
