Double Feature

Cathy and I were able to see a double feature the other day, we first watched "The Blind Side" and then "The Squeakuel", the reviews will be out soon. After going to see these two movies it got me thinking about double features and what they mean.
I can think of three different definitions for double features. The first which isn't seen much anymore is you pay one price and you get to see two movies back to back with an intermission in between. I think it is unfortunate that this isn't around much anymore I have fond memories of spending the day at the theaters with friends. I was able to see this version of a double feature just 6 months ago the imax where we live was replaying Toy Story one and Toy Story two in 3-D.
The second version of the double feature is where you pay for your first movie and when that is over you go back out and pay for your second movie. Again, it is fun to be there all the unfortunate thing is this can get pretty pricey nowadays.
The third version of the double feature is paying for the first movie and then just walking into the second. Although it is more economical it is not legal. Some say they are sticking it to "the man" others feel it's the only way they can afford to see all the movies that they want. And more savvy movie goers argue that the box office sales go towards only the theater itself (in a small percentage. The rest goes to to actors/directors and everyone else associated with the movie and none of the money actually goes towards the employees, which in fact is the reason why concessions is so expensive because. Concessions pay for the employees, so in short if you opt to choose this third version of a double feature make sure you at least buy concessions in between your movie to help support the locals.
